Diving

Costa Rica, "Rich Coast" in English, is indeed very rich....in wildlife. Scuba Divers have voted Costa Rica #1 in the world for "Big Animals". Few destinations are home to more marine animals and variety of species than is the Gulf of Papagayo. Schools of fish numbering in the thousands give a diver the chance to glide into a "wall" of fish, and large pelagic animals are a thrill to see.

This pristine, natural environment is just now becoming well known. Coco is the diving spot in Costa Rica. From $65. Advance diving excursions available.

 Fishing

Big fish

Here lies the legendary Gulf of Papagayo, world famous as one of the  best fishing spots on earth.  This natural fish trap, is rimmed by the Bat and Catalina Islands and home to sailfish, blue, black and striped marlin, giant yellow fin tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, and Roosterfish.

We are fortunate to have highly experienced, English-speaking captains that have successfully been fishing these waters for many years.  We offer all-day and half-day deep-sea trips, as well as local trips. Due to the speed of our boats, we can fish the Bat Islands on half-day trips, if that is where the fish are that day.  We aren't happy unless you are catching fish!

Rates: Average cost of deep sea full day: $550  Deep sea half day: $375  Local fishing: $50/h minimum 3 hours.

Canopy

What is a Canopy tour?
A Canopy Tour consists of suspension cables on which the person will travel from platform to platform while enjoying the beauty of the forest canopy. These cables are specially designed by expert who have made it one of a safe and most thrilling adventures available for tourists in Costa Rica. Clients are equipped with harnesses to ensure their safety.

With more than a quarter of Costa Rica covered in rainforests, one of the best ways to explore these truly magical and enchanting realms is via a canopy tour. Developed by US scientists, who were trying to study trees without touching the plant, animal and insect life on the limbs and trunks, canopy tours emerged as the prefect solution. A fantastic way to explore a truly unique habitat like the rainforests without disturbing the wildlife or endangering the trees themselves, canopy tours have become the ideal way to get a bird’s eye view of the forest below.

Congo Trail Canopy Tour: This canopy tour is located 15 kms south west of Playas del Coco. You will arrive in the tropical dry forest where you will be surrounded by high trees. Once there, after using there fine and clean facilities, the tour guides will get you ready for the ride of your life. After a short hike, you will come to the first platform, ready to start flying down the suspended cables, this is a truly an exhilarating experience. If you are lucky, even the howler monkeys will be your company during a part of these canopy travels. You should bring hiking shoes, camera, and insect repellent.

The tour last 1.5 hour and cost $35 per person.

About 20 minutes east of the Liberia heading toward San Jose, there is a dirt-road turnoff that will take you to the Llanos de Cortez waterfall, a gorgeous secluded spectacle that spans 45 feet wide and drops 30 feet into a white-sand pond surrounded by lush greenery. It's the perfect picnic getaway--and free!
