  Coco beach, Guanacaste, Costa Rica

Menu

Coco beach, Guanacaste, the diving destination in Costa Rica. The village is only 25 minutes from the new Liberia International Airport.  Nicoya's most northerly beaches ring the massive horse shoe shaped Bahia Culebra, "Snake Bay".  This huge bay is a natural amphitheater rimmed by scarped cliffs cut with lonesome coves sheltering 17 gray and white sand beaches  that have been earmarked for major development.  To the east, the plateau extends for kilometers, flat as a pancake, with volcanoes - Rincon de la Vieja, Miravalles, and Orosi - in the distance veiled with clouds.  Magnificent!

Coco beach is dramatically set in a horseshoe bay with rocks offshore. Sailboats and fishing boats are scattered throughout the bay and provide great opportunity to watch local fisherman at their daily chores. Walking to the "center" you will discover  many good restaurants and souvenir shops. The night life is good.

People from all over the world come to scuba dive, sail, fish and snorkel. You may also enjoy, horseback riding, golfing, hiking, cycling, tennis and kayaking.  Contact us

The cost of living in Costa Rica 2012 ($US)

Grocery: Milk, meats, strong alcohols, tropical fruits are much less expensive than in Canada and in Europe, more less the same as teh US. The can products, fine cheeses and cereals are generally more expensive. Certain fresh vegetables are more expensive others less expensive. For example we produce in Costa Rica all the fresh herbs at very low price. Tomatoes are produced in the mountains at moderated prices, surely less expensive than the winter in Canada and tastier but more expensive than in August of course… 500 grams of good coffee costs $5. One pint of milk costs $1.00, a bottle of beer: $1.10

Restaurants: Of course prices vary a lot. A local plate (a good casado) is very cheap and of good taste ($5-6). Dishes in tourist restaurants, will be in general a little less expensive than in Canada or the US. A good fish dish costs $9-10. A dish of pasta or chicken $8-9. A superb international cuisine plate $17. A beer in a bar or restaurant costs $3.

Transport: Public transport costs almost nothing; the ride to Liberia which lasts 50 minutes costs $1.25, the ride to San Jose (5h) costs $8. A taxi from the village to Villa Del Sol $2. Any ride towards or from the airport costs at least 25% of more than the other destinations.
